St Mungo’s, RollOnMonday and Osborne Clarke

This week the RollOnMonday scheme has received a £100k boost from international legal practice Osborne Clarke. Created by the legal website RollOnFriday and delivered by St Mungo’s, the scheme aims to support people who are homeless or at risk, in securing a three month work placement in a law firm or related business. As part of the partnership, Osborne Clarke will also be offering employability workshops and mentoring to candidates enrolled on the programme.  Hayley, our Corporate Partnership Manager, explains how this process can really help our clients achieve their potential in the working world.

“After going on numerous interviews without success, it was beginning to bring me down and my confidence was taking a huge blow.”

When Sabrie was put in touch with the St Mungo’s Employment Team she had been unemployed for a year and was at serious risk of losing her home.

The team was able to recognise Sabrie’s potential and referred her to the RollOnMonday scheme, through which we were able to find her work with law firm DWF.

“I have now been employed by DWF for just under three months and due to my enthusiasm and commitment to my work, my original contract has now been reviewed and I have been lucky enough to secure a 12 month contract.

Securing employment with the firm as given me my confidence back in the working world.”

Sarah Bagley is Sabrie’s manager at DWF and is a firm believer in the scheme after seeing Sabrie’s fantastic approach and attitude.

“I was approached about RollOnMonday by one of our Executive Partners and immediately thought it was a fantastic idea. It wasn’t hard to think of a suitable role that we could offer to one of the candidates.

I’ve been a PA for over 20 years and had been thinking that it was time for me to give something back. This presented a great opportunity to be able to offer my years of experience.

My colleagues and I have all been incredibly impressed with Sabrie since she started working with us and I will definitely be considering St Mungo’s with each new role that becomes available in my team.”

Sabrie’s story highlights the true value of the RollOnMonday programme. It offers a chance for people to get back on their feet, through meaningful work experience that takes into consideration their experiences and the support they need.

The programme is already delivering fantastic results, with more than 30 people having now completed a successful placement within the legal sector.

Our partnership with Osborne Clarke will see that number increase by more than 100 in the next two years, making work a possibility again for many people who are homeless or at risk.
